Stay Ahead of the Scammers

At TFed, we want to make it easier to recognize a scam before it affects you. Fraudsters are constantly developing new ways to trick individuals into giving up personal information or money—but many of these scams follow familiar patterns.

Scammers Often:

  • Pretend to be from a company or agency you trust (like a financial institution, a utility company, the IRS, or a well-known retailer)
  • Claim there’s an urgent problem (a locked account, missed payment, or suspicious activity) or a prize you’ve won
  • Use pressure tactics to get you to act quickly—hoping you won’t pause to think or ask questions
  • Tell you to pay in unusual ways like:
    • Gift cards
    • Cryptocurrency
    • Wire transfers
    • Cash drops or pickup

If something feels off, too urgent, or too good to be true, stop and call TFed directly at (508) 824-6466.
